Fresh Out of the Oven: The Best Melt-in-Your-Mouth Chocolate Chip Cookies

by Madeline | Sugar

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cookies filling the kitchen — especially when they’re this good. Fresh out of the oven and impossible to resist, these chocolate chip cookies are my go-to recipe whenever I want to impress (or simply treat myself!). Golden on the edges, soft and gooey in the center, and topped with just the right touch of flaky sea salt — they’re everything a cookie should be.

Today, I’m sharing the secret to my melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookies so you can bring a little magic to your own kitchen.

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 227g brown butter (measured after browning)
  • 232g sugar
  • 213g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 410g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 200g semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 200g milk chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt and milk chocolate chunks for topping

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Start by browning your butter in a pan until it turns lightly golden and smells nutty. (Make sure you measure the butter after browning it!)

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter and sugars until creamy.

4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.

5. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt.

6. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined.

7. Fold in the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips.

8. For extra decadent cookies, scoop 90g of dough for each cookie ball. Press a few milk chocolate chunks into the tops of each ball for that bakery-style look.

9. Bake for about 15 minutes, rotating the baking sheet halfway through. Adjust the baking time slightly if you prefer crispier cookies.

10. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the cookies immediately after pulling them from the oven for that irresistible sweet-salty finish.
